Skills & Interests
Technical Writing: I currently work as a technical writer in an Agile development environment, and I've worn a variety of hats as a creator of content about software.
This includes creating:- Technical content, like software user documentation, release documentation, product overviews, and more.
- Marketing & sales enablement content, like core product messaging, product roadmap assets, webinar presentations, blog posts, white papers, eBooks, proposal responses, and more.
- Creative writing: In terms of personal writing, I consider fiction to be my "home turf," but I dabble in other forms of writing as well. If you've watched BlacKkKlansman, you may have heard the song "We Are Gonna Be Okay" on the soundtrack; I co-wrote this song with Dan Whitener.
- Teaching: My graduate class in curriculum design was life-changing, even though I apply my learning outside of a K-12 classroom. I'm a fan of the Understanding by Design framework, and approach educational materials I create
(class curricula, instructional documentation, presentations, and more) with the concept of "backwards design" (beginning with the desired learning goals and developing learning materials with those goals in mind).

When I'm not giving talks or speaking on panels, I'm sharing my thoughts with my Toastmasters club, colleagues, and anyone who is interested in learning.
I'm also ordained through the Universal Life Church and can officiate weddings (where local law allows).
